La Marmite Infernale

It still happens that a record touches us so deeply that it becomes hard to let go of, to the point where we slip it into the inner pocket, next to the heart. The result of this meeting between the seasoned veterans of the Marmite Infernale and the young choristers of the Nelson Mandela Metro Choir is one of those rare albums. Enthusiasm, youthful spirit and heart, humility, and the generosity of our old improvisation and imaginary folklore knights: everything here invites one to join in. The musicians of the Marmite could have played the mandarins, adopting a benevolent condescension from their over-thirty years of experience. On the contrary, they approached the spontaneity and naturalness of these young people with an almost adolescent sense of wonder and emotion, as they bring their music to life like never before, under the direction of Mthuthuzeli Majeke.
