L’Électroscope is a quintet dedicated to prompted improvisation, made up of four electric guitars and a video artist. Supported by ARFI, the project is built collectively, encouraging the active participation of people in care institutions. It highlights creative expression and social interaction, fuels the artistic process, and challenges conventional approaches to creation.
Born from a desire to explore new forms of musical creation in direct collaboration with the public, the project demonstrates that music can be a powerful tool for non-verbal communication—one that fosters connection and offers a space for freedom. During an initial experience in a psychiatric setting (at the Centre Psychothérapique de l’Ain), this approach revealed its full potential.
Prompted improvisation—where instructions are imagined by participants and interpreted live—is at the heart of this co-creative process. It dissolves the traditional boundary between artists and audience, allowing everyone to become an active part of the performance.
