When a collector of strange objects dies, part of his legacy comes into our hands. These objects, sometimes enigmatic, sometimes imbued with an almost magical aura, become the starting point for a theatrical exploration. On stage, four actor-musicians set about revealing them, imagining their possible uses and attempting to activate them.
Each session is unique: the objects brought into play vary from one evening to the next, paving the way for a lively and singular dramaturgy. The artistic team has already successfully experimented with this principle of a different show for each performance with La Ferme des Animaux (The Animal Farm), and continues this approach here in a new narrative and musical universe.
The show takes the form of a concert, accompanied by actor/“guides.” Through musical ceremonies and rituals—sometimes experimental, sometimes absurd or offbeat—we seek to question that intimate and universal part of ourselves: our ability to believe. Making a wish upon a shooting star, avoiding walking under a ladder, dreaming of the dead, or throwing coins into a fountain... these are all commonplace or extraordinary practices that reveal how each of us deals with the invisible.
This is not about religion, but about personal or collective beliefs, whether funny or disturbing, trivial or essential. The project aims to bring them to life on stage, so that we can explore together those aspects of our lives that defy reason but continue to guide our actions, our imaginations, and our stories.
This theatrical concert/musical theater production, produced by ARFI and Compagnie du Vieux Singe (Old Monkey Company), invites the audience to embark on a poetic, sonorous, and sensitive journey at the crossroads of ritual, play, and music.
With the audience
Activities involving the audience are being developed at three levels of the show:
- FOR THE CREATION: The aim will be to explore the themes through questionnaires and writing workshops linked to “totem objects” belonging to the participants.
- DURING THE SHOW: Following on from the team's previous show, La Ferme des Animaux (The Animal Farm), ways of interacting with the audience will be developed and implemented.
- AFTER THE SHOW: Post-show workshops will encourage participants to develop and experience a “ceremony.”
