La Granada: Workshops on July 18 and 19, residency and performances starting August 14—sign up now!

Every two years in the summer, the La Granada association invites ARFI to a major gathering centered on traditional and improvised music, bringing together some forty amateur and professional musicians. It’s a powerful tool for exchange, communication, and openness toward others (neighbors and foreigners alike). This gathering also stems from a desire to preserve, promote, and celebrate the global cultural heritage of the Corbières region.

Participants pass down a selection of songs orally and arrange them, accompanied by three artists. A repertoire of about a dozen pieces is thus put together, blending traditional music with contemporary musical arrangements. Following five days of workshops, the pop-up orchestra will hit the road the week of August 17 for a series of concerts in villages throughout the Corbières region and in Villerouge-Termenès, culminating in a festive day in the village.
