Borrowing from documentary techniques and field collection, the video-kit focuses on the joint creation of image and sound, in real time, through a participatory process or as part of performances.
The "video-kit" is a small, illuminated glass table developed by Jérôme Lopez, filmed in retro. It allows the production of a video stream from photos or objects manipulated by its user. The image is captured by the computer before being sent to the video projector, with or without digital processing. It is also possible to paint or draw on the glass.
Participants in a workshop using the video-kit draw, paint, display photos, or various collected objects (what is called field collection), which they project onto the screen and animate live. These collected elements can also be used to "augment" an existing film, adding live images and drawings. Participants can thus approach video language using simple tools at their disposal.
From mid-June to mid-July 2024, it will be an opportunity for Jérôme to create 5 participatory works based on the developed video-kit.
